Facebook Scrabble vs. Words With Friends
Facebook Scrabble vs. Words With Friends
Words with Friends just came out big on Facebook - or rather, as a Droid app for Facebook - and I am suddenly deluged with friends starting games with me. I don't get the hype. What's wrong with the good ol' Scrabble game there on Facebook? It's not quite as colorful and pretty, I'll give you that; but it is FAR more functional - which makes it a lot more fun in my book!
Why Scrabble Beats Words with Friends
Typing in Words
With Scrabble, I can click on the board where I want to play, then type in the letters with my keyboard. Quicker, easier, more accurate!Potential Points
When I place a word, Scrabble automatically shows me what my points will be.Word History
Scrabble shows a word history, showing which word was played in which turn, and for how many points. Rarely critical, but still nice.Dictionary
Scrabble has a dictionary to check spelling. Now neither Scrabble nor Words with Friends will allow you to play a non-word, so it's not like Scrabble is changing the game here any more than WWF is. But since one is not allowed to play a non-word, the dictionary feature is exceedingly cool to check spellings that you think you remember might be a word, then check it on the board to see what the points would be. With no dictionary in WWF, you must actually play the word to find out if it is an allowed word or not, and then you can't check out other possibilities and potential points.Advertisements
Every time I complete a move, an ad pops up in Words with Friends! Can you spellA-N-N-O-Y-I-N-G?
WWF
The acronym ... WWF is already taken by the World Wildlife Federation. Get with the program!Which Crossword Game Do You Prefer?
