Fractions Games Are Great for Teaching and Learning Fractions Painlessly!

Games for fractions? Why not? Dull and boring is how most kids think of learning fractions, but there are plenty of fun fractions games available, so why not make learning fun and painless instead? These math fraction games will enhance learning so that it is retained and remembered better, and it will enhance your teaching experience as well ... who doesn't want to hear, "Oh, boy! Time for fractions!" instead of a stifled groan when math time comes around?

Pie in the Sky - A fast, fun fraction game!

Pie in the Sky is nothing but fun - a game my kids actually ask to play! Each player (up to 4) has her own flavor of ice cream markers to top the fruit pies with. The gameboard includes whole pies, 1/2 pies, 2/4 pies, 3/4 pies, 6/8 pies, etc. A spinner indicates which pie portion the player can top with ice cream. If it is a piece with equivalents, the spinner indicates the choices available (such as 3/4 or 6/8). The object is to get three ice cream scoops in a row, but beware! Other players can top your ice cream scoop with their own! The spinner may also indicate the player must draw a piece of fruit, which may direct the player to swap a piece with another player, or remove or add one of his own pieces to the board.

The game is played quickly and even the youngest players will quickly learn what fractions are, just by having fun! Extra-thick, sturdy game pieces ensure continued fun and learning.

Pizza To Go - A variety of fractions games in one box!

Another fun fraction game for teaching fractions to your children! Games include building whole pizzas by collecting pieces of various size; naming the correct fractions while the pieces are upside down (so the marked size cannot be seen); collecting points by taking away the most pizza pieces (if you spin 2/6 you could choose two 1/6 pieces or four 1/12 pieces); collecting fractions equivalent to 1/2; and several other fun games!

Spinner and pizza game pieces are thin coated cardboard; I would recommend lamination if your family plays this game often.

Flip 'n Link Fractions

Flip' n Link Fractions is an engaging and action-packed strategy game. While enjoying the game, players learn the concepts of fractions and how they relate to a whole. Simply identify the fractions listed on the game cards, then match their values to the appropriate playing piece. To win, a player must strategically create a link of five playing pieces. But there's a trick! Players must plan ahead to avoid being trapped by their opponents and having their playing pieces flipped to the opponent's side. The action continues until one of the players creates a link. Players win with clever strategies and a bit of luck. (from product description)
